In Sweden, the former primeminister Göran Persson, in year 2000, took (stole, borrowed) 260 billion swedish krona from the retirement funds (appr 40 billion USD). As much as 800 billions Krona is expected to be the total cost of this maneuver – so far.
(Iceland and Greece is said to have done the same thing).
Now the system for pensions in Sweden is tied to economic growth. No growth = low pensions. And Sweden is a high taxed country where people depends on the State (not God) to provide for them.
